William "Bill" Townsley, age 72 of Alvin, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Hankamer, Texas.  Bill was born March 25, 1951 in Big Spring, Texas and was a resident of Alvin for the last 9 years formerly of the West Texas area. He worked for 28 years as a civilian in logistics for the Army - Air Force Exchange Services. Bill was an avid writer with a passion for Texas history. He was a published author of four books and recently fulfilled a dream by creating a true Texas history magazine along with his good friend Tim de la Vega in Abilene, TX.  Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Floy Townsley; brother, Troy Townsley.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Roberta Townsley; daughters, Rebecca Martinez and husband Enrique, Kisha Poole and husband Eric; grandchildren, Kyle Poole, Casandra Avina, Alexandria Perez, Joesph Martinez, Ricki Marie Martinez and Gabriella Martinez; great grandchildren, Xaiver, Jeremiah, Gracelynn, Aiden, Christopher and Noah; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 5, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations be made to the Lela Latch Lloyd museum in Cisco, TX to honor Bill and his life long pursuit for knowledge about the Spider Rock Mystery.
