Mr. Pete Reed met his Savior face to face Monday evening on April 27, 2026, at the age of 89 years and 6 months. Pete was born in Henderson County on October 28, 1936, to Jerrell Stokes Reed and Martha "Mattie" Rosella Harris Reed. Pete was a long-time resident of Alvin, Texas. Pete graduated from Athens High School and attended Henderson County Junior College until he was drafted into the United States Army where he served for 2 years.

After the army, he worked for Henderson County working on building roads all over East Texas. In 1962 Pete began a long tenure working for Monsanto Industries. In 1993, after 31 years, Pete retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stokes and Mattie; his brother, Jerrel Reed, Jr., his sister, Martha Halbrook Chambers; his son, Warren Reed; and his grandson, Dustin Reed. Survivors include his three sons, Mike Reed and wife Monica; Scott Reed and wife Phyllis, their daughter Joslyn Jenkins and husband Travis Jenkins and children Brylee Jenkins and Shae Jenkins; son Garrett Reed and wife Grace; daughter Lindy West and husband Sam West; Warren's wife, Candy Reed, and their daughter Kristen Moore and her son, Charlie Moore; Joel Reed and his wife Melanie, their son Nathan Reed and wife Laine, and their son Allen Reed; son Aaron Reed and wife Nicole and their son, Wade Reed.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 PM.
