Walter "Scott" Dow III, age 65 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Scott was born October 21, 1958, in Bangor, Maine, and was a member of the Alvin community for 16 years. Scott graduated from the Burlington County Institute of Technology in Medford, New Jersey. He volunteered as a firefighter at the Medford Lakes Volunteer Fire Department in Medford Lakes, New Jersey. After a career at Rohm & Haas Chemical Company, he went on to work at Rice University. Scott enjoyed spending time with his family, pets, and friends. Scott also enjoyed sports of many kinds.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents Mary Dow (née Norton) and Walter Dow Jr. Scott is survived by his wife June Dow (née Ebarb); sons Walter Scott Dow IV, Joshua Evan Dow, Sean Michael Dow, stepson Shane Garza and wife Suzanne; stepdaughter Stephanie Hernandez and husband Michael; sister Nancy Dow Carman and husband John "Jack" Carman; grandchildren Ashley Garza, Kaitlyn Garza Morris, Kaylee Garza, Cali Garza, Ezra Guinn, Michael Hernandez, Ethan Hernandez, and Mikayla Hernandez; nephew Jesse Pomper and wife Danielle, niece Beth Kidd and husband Bob, great niece Catherine, and great nephews Robby, Johnny, and Adam Kidd.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM with a memorial service beginning at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Scott Funeral Home.

The family requests donations to the American Lung Association in lieu of flowers.
