Virgil Bowden, age 96 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Alvin. Virgil was born on July 24, 1929, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He had been a resident of Alvin for 15 years. Virgil proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Dental Specialist. After his service, he built his own dental lab in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and served dentists in NE Oklahoma for many years.

He was a member of the Assembly of God church and enjoyed reading his bible. While in Oklahoma, his favorite pastime was taking care of his black angus cattle. Here in Alvin, he enjoyed working with his flowers and visiting with the neighbors.

Virgil was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, parents Hugh and Leola Bowden, a brother Joe and sisters Ester and Wilma Jean. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Stout and husband Dan, Joy Tafolla and husband Greg, Elaine Rice, Jacki Draper and husband Dean, sisters Ruby Hennigar and Dorthy Pregler, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
