Vada Louise de Jongh, age 86 of Friendswood, Texas passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026 at her home with family by her side. Vada was born January 9, 1940 in Houston, Texas and was a longtime resident of Alvin. She worked as an X-Ray technician for Hermann Hospital downtown and later for Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, Texas. Vada had a love for gardening and was an active member of the Alvin Garden club and with the Houston Garden Club she held a position as a director for Region IV. She enjoyed being a member of Mother's Club in Alvin and was a Girl Scout Leader for Girl Scout Troop 133 and Cadet Troop 599 of Alvin. While in the Girl Scouts of American for many years, she coordinated Day Camps and a three-week adventure to Wyoming with stops in Colorado and South Dakota. She had a great love for her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Vada is preceded in death by her husband, Johannes "Joe" de Jongh; brother, James Sorrells.

Vada is survived by her daughter, Rachel Collins and husband Pat; son Johannes "Joe" de Jongh and wife Julie; brother, John Bane and wife Sheila; grandchildren, Jacob and Desiree de Jongh, Kristy and Blake McNicoll, Katie and Ethan Wallgren; great grandchildren, William de Jongh, Parker and Sloane McNicoll; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2026 at Fairbanks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Vada was passionate about fresh flowers. If you would like to send flowers in her honor it would be a great tribute to her if they were fresh.
