Teresa Louise Wright Flores, age 71 of Alvin, Texas passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 with her children and family members at her side.  Teresa was born January 4, 1952 in Harriman, Tennessee and was a resident of the Texas Gulf Coast area for most of her life. She had been a resident of Alvin for the last 24 years.

As a young girl growing up in Texas City, Teresa loved reading, immersing herself in classic literature, and music. One of her fondest memories from that time was seeing two shows in one day that The Beatles performed in Houston when she was 13. She would hilariously tell the story that her mother thought she and her friends should see psychiatrists for the frenzy that was induced, but she was undeterred and they continued to be a lifelong favorite. Among other hobbies was Teresa's talent for sewing, making remarkable creations for herself, sisters, friends and her sisters-in-law including intricate twirler costumes and prom dresses.

Throughout her adult life one of Teresa's favorite activities was a good road trip, cherishing the freedom of the open road while getting to explore the scenery, shops, restaurants, and sites of towns along the way. Some of her favorite trips wound her through Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Colorado, Utah, Seattle, Vancouver and the Texas Hill Country.

Teresa attended Texas City High School, still keeping in touch with numerous friends from that time. Having had a penchant for math and numbers, Teresa worked professionally in banking and worked hard, studied and passed the test to become a computer programmer in 1997 at the age of 45, nearly 30 years after her high school teacher recommended it as a good career path for her. She counted that as one of her proudest accomplishments.

Teresa was a dedicated member of the Church of the Latter-day Saints, supporting missionaries as they came through the area as well as numerous other callings from the church. Among her favorite memories was serving in the Young Women's organization when Denny was a teenager. Teresa was a lifelong believer in 'quiet service', reaching out to people with cards, letters and notes to let them know they were remembered. During her usual errands around town, she often would want to visit or 'check in on' friends and church members, ensuring that they felt connected and cared for.

Above all, Teresa cherished her family. She married Carlos in 1999, enjoying 23 years of marriage before his passing, and supporting each other through many of life's happiest and hardest times. She was a devoted mother to Lance and Denny, and loving 'Grammi' to her grandchildren, always taking pride in their events and accomplishments. While miles and circumstances meant family couldn't be together, it was a comforting daily ritual to all share Wordle results with each other. Teresa was always the quickest to congratulate a job well done or commiserate on an unreasonably difficult word.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Flores; mother, Wanda Harris Weber; sister, Lisa Wright; and grandson, Thorne Gandy.

Teresa is survived by her son, Lance Gandy and wife Sarah; daughter, Denny Gee and husband Gavin; father, Thurman Wright; grandchildren, Maya Gandy, Finley Gandy, Greyson Gee, Curran Gandy, Ivory Gee and Treten Gee; along with numerous extended family and friends.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints (2700 Lehi Alvin, Texas 77511 ).
