Sylvia Jeannine Herklotz, age 83 of Alvin, Texas passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Needville, Texas. Sylvia was born July 23, 1938 and was a lifetime resident of Alvin. She worked for many years as the manager of the Alvin Community College bookstore and was a member of the Alvin Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Milton Herklotz, parents, Pauline and J.W. Baty, Sr., brother, J.W. Baty Jr.

Jeannine is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Meyer and husband Mark, granddaughter, Maci Beach and husband Kody, great-granddaughter, Hunter Beach, along with numerous other relatives and dear friends.

Jeannine was a founding charter member of the Alvin Youth Livestock Arena Association and spent many years as the secretary and in the later years was the manager of the money in the concession stand and enjoyed helping there until last summer. She especially enjoyed watching kids grow up and compete at AYLAA and was proud of each and every one of the kids.

In her younger years she was leader of the Alvin 4-H group and secretary of THSRA Region VII. Recently she enjoyed volunteering at the Alvin Gathering Place with Alzheimer's and dementia patients and led the exercise group. She used her excellent sewing skills at the church where she helped with the Alvin Lutheran Church Heavenly Stitchers quilting group. Whatever she was involved in she loved to help and assist.

Jeannine loved to cook and was especially known for her lemon pound cake, banana pudding, and chocolate chip cookies. She was also an excellent seamstress and sewed all her own queen contest outfits.

A visitation will be held at Alvin Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM and a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Alvin Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the Confederate Cemetery.
