Stephen Barry Salyer, age 73, of Alvin, Texas, passed away peacefully Friday, March 18, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. Steve was born January 4, 1949 in San Diego, California. His parents eventually relocated their family to Texas, and Steve graduated from La Porte High School. He later went on to raise his own family in Schulenburg, Texas. Steve was a resident of Alvin since 2000. He was a master carpenter who helped build, create and reconstruct numerous projects over the years including many special custom creations for his granddaughters. Steve enjoyed the outdoors: swimming in the surf in San Diego as a child, hunting and fishing throughout his life, and making memories year after year camping and tubing on the Guadalupe River with his family. He was a big fan of Astros baseball and college football, especially the Texas Longhorns. He had an affection for Brittany Spaniels, and he had many loyal Brittany companions through the years. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved spending time with them. Steve attended South Park Baptist Church, and he faithfully served the Lord. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but they will cherish the time they had with him. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna Salyer; and his brother, Walter Salyer II.

Steve is survived by his daughters, Wendy Sartain and her husband Scott, and Minnie Worthy; sons, Clint Salyer and Brent Salyer; sister, Sherida Wilson; brother, Brent Salyer; grandchildren, Dustin Salyer, Vivian Worthy, Rebecca Sartain, Colby Sartain and Justin Sartain; along with numerous extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Scott Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
