Salvador Salinas, Sr., age 93 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family. Salvador was born on April 29, 1932, in Mineral City, Texas and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for over 68 years. He worked as a cook at the Mexican Village in Alvin before retiring from the construction industry and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.

When he was younger, Salvador and his family were sharecroppers around the Rio Grande Valley. After the harvest season, they would return to their hometown of Aguasleguas, Nuevo León México. During his time in Aguasleguas in periods of rest, he met Noelia Barrientos who would quickly become his fiancée, and then later his wife. Both shared a major love for horses. Salvador would always recount stories of his days in Aguasleguas where he would raise, train, and break in horses and cattle. It was also during this time that he cultivated a love for playing the guitar; a love, that he avidly shared with his grandchildren (who affectionately called Salvador "Yeyo," a name he would be known for by family and friends) by playing them ranchera or norteño songs when they would come and visit.

One unfortunate harvest season, while sharecropping in Beeville, Salvador was accidentally shot and had to be rushed to the hospital in McAllen, Tx. After doctors had communicated his dire situation due to a spread in the infection, they recommended that he be transferred to Galveston, Tx. While here, the family began working around the area in order to cover Salvador's medical expenses. After he was discharged from the hospital, he was told he could no longer lift heavy objects due to his condition which is how he came to work at the Mexican Village in Alvin. After raising enough money, he soon returned to Aguasleguas to marry his Fiancée Noelia Barrientos. Soon after marriage, he and his wife moved to Alvin, Tx where he and his two oldest sons built the residence the family knows and loves today.

In retirement, Salvador had many passions that he would exercise. Aside from watching his family grow, Salvador also had a small garden he would tend to. Here he would grow corn, tomatoes, watermelon, jalapeños and other fruits and vegetables. It was also in retirement where he worked with his growing family to acquire the Kwik Kar of Angleton thus laying the foundation for what is known today as Salinas Inc. Salvador was never one for settling down, he greatly enjoyed traveling to the ranch to see the family's cattle. Later in life, he used a lawn mower as a preferred method of transportation around his residence, where his family resided. He was also known for mowing five different properties, one of which was Kwik Kar in Angleton where the team lovingly referred to him as "pops."

Salvador was preceded in death by his wife Noelia B. Salinas, parents, Blasa and Francisco Salinas, son Freddy Salinas.

Salvador is survived by his sons, Salvador Salinas, Jr. and wife Juany, Jose "Sammy" Salinas and wife Becky, 3 grandchildren, Janett Chapa and husband Eric, Sam Salinas II, Alyssa Salinas, 2 great-grandchildren, Andrew Chapa, Emma Chapa, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin, Texas. Interment will follow in the City of Alvin Oak Park Cemetery.
