Ruth Elizabeth Begnaud, age 79, of Alvin, Texas, passed away at her home surrounded by friends and family on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Ruth was born July 9, 1943 in Brazoria, Texas.  She graduated from Angleton High School in 1961 and Southwest Texas State College in August 1964.  On June 18, 1965, Ruth married Andrus Joseph Begnaud and they lived in Victoria for two years before moving to Manvel Texas. Ruth taught school for 30+ years and retired from the Alvin Independent School District in 1996. After the death of her husband Andy in 2002, she moved to Alvin, Texas.

Ruth's hobbies included camping, playing cards with friends, and quilting.

She produced many beautiful quilts for friends, family and even charity fund raisers.  During the pandemic, she manufactured face masks for teachers, friends, and health care workers.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Irvin Brod and Audrey Luce, brother Joe Brod, husband Andrus Begnaud, and infant daughter Sara.  Ruth is survived by brothers Jim Brod (wife Carmen), Jerry Brod, sons Barry Begnaud, Jeff Begnaud (wife Lisa), grandchildren Andrew (and Ashley) Begnaud, Alex Begnaud, Austin Begnaud (wife Jourdan), Brandon Hill (wife Amanda), Taylor Hill, Sydney Begnaud, great-grandchildren Wyatt Begnaud, Everlee Begnaud, Kacie Hill, Kylie Hill, and Kenslie Hill.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home (1421 E Hwy 6, Alvin, TX  77511). Ruth's Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Scott Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. The interment will be at South Park Cemetery following the funeral services and a reception at First Methodist Alvin (611 W South Street, Alvin, TX  77551).
