Roy Dean Courtright, age 84 of Alvin, Texas passed away Monday, June 2, 2025. Roy was born October 7, 1940 in Alvin, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Alvin. He took great pride in taking care of his family and will dearly be missed by all that knew him. He enjoyed playing bass guitar in his band "The Mavericks" for many years. Roy was a long-time member, and influence, in the local music scene for many years. Roy also worked as a postman for the United States Postal Service in Alvin for 35 years. Roy is preceded in death by his wife Judy Courtright; parents Charles and Mildred Courtright; sisters Elsie Mae Beard and Viola Ray Lindow; brothers John Leslie Courtright and Francis Charles Courtright.

Roy is survived by his daughter Kelli Kerr and husband Roger; son Mark Courtright and wife Valeri; sisters Rita Fay Catino and Reeva Jean Hielleman; grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Megan, Luke, Nick, Erika, Amanda, Christina and Samantha; 23 great grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, June 13, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home with interment to follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
