Rose Margaret (West) Hartman passed into the loving arms of Jesus, Monday March 11, 2024 with family by her side.

Born June 18, 1939 to Casper and Rose West, in Yoakum, Texas. Rose graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1957 and worked for the city of Rosenberg. On a coffee break at Schaffer's Drug Store, Rose met the love of her life Chris (C. Verne) Hartman. Married at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg on February 7, 1959, Rose and Chris recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Their lifetime commitment has been a testament of their love through good times and life's challenges.

Rose and Chris moved to Alvin, Texas in 1962 where Chris started his career with Monsanto, Chocolate Bayou, while Rose was a home maker. She later worked with Alvin Independent School District for 22 years, in a variety of roles, but most special to her was in special education.

Honeymooning in Monterrey Mexico ignited a love to travel. Rose and Chris traveled to all 50 states whether it be in a pop-up camper at Guadalupe State Park or motor-homing across the country. They also enjoyed international travels including riverboat cruising through Europe, or vacationing in Australia, New Zealand, or Tahiti, to name a few.

Rose was a founding member of the Alvin Taylor Street Club and a friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob for almost 50 years. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and participated in the Catholic Daughters of the America's Court #2073 and the Czech organization KJZT.

Her greatest joy was being GG Rose to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each Easter she could be found decorating eggs with the grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and watching TV, rarely missing an episode of General Hospital.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, brother C.W. West, Jr., and daughter Lauri Hartman. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Chris Hartman; children Mark Hartman, daughter and son-in-law Debbi (Hartman) and Chad Fontenot; grandchildren: Cory and wife Amanda Fontenot; Justin and wife Rebecca Hartman; Lauren (Fontenot) and husband Mark Wottlin; Kaylie (Hartman) and husband Noah Hill; and, Bryndin Hartman; great grand-children

Charlotte and Travis Fontenot; Adley and Layla Hartman; Elaina and Elliot Hill; and, Emberly Wottlin; sister Barbara and husband Victor Vogt; and, sister-in-law Mary Ann West. She is also survived by Mindy Hartman, along with numerous extended family and friends.

The family appreciates the excellent care she received at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston, TX.

Family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm, at Scott Funeral Home, 1421 E. Hwy 6 Alvin, TX. A funeral mass will be held at Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 110 E. South Street, Alvin, TX. Lunch to follow in the church hall.

Serving as pallbearers are Cory Fontenot, Justin Hartman, Mark Wottlin, Jeff Maresh, Greg Maresh, and Jack Sullivan.
