Rena Margaret Smith Edge, 91, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Sweeny, Texas. Born on October 23, 1934, in Huntsville, Texas, Margaret spent her life caring for others, loving her family, and finding beauty in the world around her.

Margaret dedicated her career to serving others as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She took pride in helping those in need and touched many lives through her compassion, kindness, and commitment to her profession.

She shared her life with her husband, George Bruce Edge, and together they shared their golden years together.

Margaret had a gift for making every place she lived feel like home. She delighted in creating beautiful flower gardens, transforming ordinary spaces into colorful sanctuaries. She was a devoted Houston Astros fan and loved traveling throughout the United States to witness the breathtaking beauty of the autumn leaves. Nature brought her peace, and she found joy in the changing seasons.

She is survived by her husband, George Bruce Edge; her daughter, Donna Muniz and husband Rickey Ripka; her brother Donny Smith and wife Kneothia, her grandchildren, Robert (Andy) Van Dine and wife Heather, David Wright and wife Kimberly, Jennifer Wright Breland and husband Daniel Breland, Timothy Van Dine and wife Lindsey, George Ripka and many cherished great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Debra Ripka, who was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas; her father, Mannie Thomas Smith, and her beloved mother, Rosa Rena Smith; her sisters, Margie Powell, and Bonny Smith; her brothers, Bill and Danny Smith.

One of the greatest gifts Margaret gave her family was her encouragement to always strive to be their very best.
