In Loving Memory

RAYMOND ALLEN GRAY, age 94, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on, Monday, December 6, 2021. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, not to forget, one of the best mayors to ever serve the city of Alvin. He was born in Shiner, Texas, and moved to Alvin in 1943. He was a builder by trait and built out numerous subdivisions here in the Brazoria County area. He turned to politics in 1960 and served his community for the better part of the next 30 years of his life.  Allen was elected as the Brazoria County Drainage District #3 Commissioner and served from 1960 until 1968, and in 1972 he was elected as the mayor of Alvin and served until 1993.  Allen had a love for playing dominos with his family and friends, and could always be found at the family gatherings at the domino table with his brothers or brother-in-laws.  His family was the most important thing in his life, especially his grandkids and great grandkids, as they always came first and he catered to them in every manner, whether it was cooking, watching their sports, taking them hunting or doing just about whatever they desired.  Besides being a family man, Allen was also a great friend to so many and it is not uncommon to hear from strangers that he, in some form or fashion, helped someone who needed help and/or changed a person's life forever.

He is predeceased by his wife, Deloris Gray, brothers, Vernon Gray, Tom Gray and brother-in-law, Paul Ackley.  He is survived by his children, Tom Gray and wife, Sharon, Liz Erskine and husband, Andy; his 5 grandchildren, Hollie Raska and husband, Daren, Mark Gray and wife, Melanie, Drew Erskine, Brytish Fluellen and Braxton Wood; and 6 great grandchildren, Paige and Hayden Raska, Avery, Lexi and Reese Gray, Malia and Zade Williams.  He was also survived by his sister, Laura Ackley and sister-in-laws, Janice and Nellie Gray.

Visitation services will be held at the Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas on Monday, December 13 ^th , from 3:00p.m. till 5:00p.m.  Funeral services will be held immediately thereafter, at 5:00p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home.

Allen will be greatly missed by his family and friend's, whose lives he so very much touched.
