Randol Gilmore passed away on Saturday May 20, 2023 at the age of 101 and 5 months in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Gilmore was born on the 28th of December 1921 in Slocum, Anderson County, Texas to Earl and Eva Raines Gilmore. He attended schools in Slocum, Texas and graduated from Slocum High School in 1938.

He worked at two different auto service stations for several years in Palestine, Texas.  He was then employed by the Anderson County Tax Office from January 1st 1941 to June 1st 1942 as a Deputy Clerk. On June 10th 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard where he served until his honorable discharge on May 22nd 1946 attaining the rank of Specialist First Class.

He applied and was appointed to the 10th Texas Highway Patrol Recruit School on January 3rd 1947 and was first stationed in Houston. He was promoted to Sgt. on September 1st 1957 and stationed in La Marque for 17 years. After being promoted to Lt, he was transferred to Corpus Christi for 4 years and then transferred back to Houston.  In 1976 he was promoted to Captain and transferred to San Antonio as Texas Highway Patrol District 3B Commander.  He was in charge of 18 Counties, 1 Lt, 9 Sgts. and 101 Troopers. He remained in San Antonio until his retirement on December 31st 1985.  All together, he served the State of Texas and its citizens for 39 years, and moved a total of 8 times.

On January 1, 1951 he received a Commission as Second Lt from the US Air Force Reserve serving in the Security Police field and then assigned to OSI (Office Special Investigations).  He served for 28 years and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

He was an active Deacon in Southern Baptist Churches where ever he was stationed from 1954 until 2020.

He was an active Member of the Gideon's from 2001 until his passing in 2023.

He was a Master Mason and a Member in good standing with the Grand Lodge of Texas for over 73 years.

He married Ruby Frank Griffith Gilmore on December 5th 1947 and they were blessed with five children. Randol G. Gilmore, Russell R. Gilmore, Rhonda R. Gilmore, Robin L. Gilmore Pean and Rodney Frank Gilmore who died on the day of his birth.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Ruby Griffith Gilmore, his parents, Earl  Gilmore and Eva Raines Gilmore, Sisters Marie Gilmore Dawson and Joann Gilmore Johnston and Grandson Brian McMillan.

He is survived by his children. Randol G. Gilmore (Janet), Russell R. Gilmore (Alana) Rhonda R. Gilmore, Robin L. Gilmore Pean.  (8) Grandchildren and (7) Great Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations in memory of Mr. Gilmore be  sent to Gideon's International P.O. Box 2192  Universal City, Texas 78148 to help spread God's Word.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Palestine City Cemetery in Palestine, Texas.

In the near future, there will also be a Memorial Service held at Northeast Baptist Church 2930 MacArthur View, San Antonio, Texas 78217.
