Rafael Pena Avila Jr., age 80 of Manvel, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Rafael was born June 16, 1941 in Robstown, Texas. He worked for many years as a chemical operator and was Catholic by faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael Velarde Avila Sr. and Anselma Pena. Avila; brothers Robert Avila and Arturo Avila.

Rafael is survived by his wife, Maria "Lupe" Avila; sons Rafael R. Avila III and wife Ilene, Roland Avila and Corina Yesuf, and Robert Avila; sisters Elena Lopez and husband Juan, Adrianna Reyes and husband Jerry, Mary Alonzo, and Graciela Montalvo; brother Jimmy Avila; grandchildren Joshua, Alex, Miranda, Bobby, Ryan, Robyn, and Ashley; great-grandchildren Jazz, Bailey, Brooklyn, Kylo, Samantha, and one on the way Trey. Many extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Church with a Rosary starting at 10:00 A.M. and Mass starting at 11:00 A.M.
