On July 26, 2023, our dear beloved mother, Olga G. Alonzo, passed peacefully at the age of 81 after a brief illness of cancer. She was surrounded by a tsunami of loved ones.

Olga was born March 20, 1942, in Beeville, Texas, where she met the love of her life of more than 64 years Cerildo P. Alonzo and was a resident of Alvin for 40 years. Olga enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and dominos, going to the casino, accompanying her husband while he was hunting and fishing, and going on vacations with her children. Whether she was attending an event or if you were invited to her house, she always made sure you were fed, she did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Although she didn't finish school, she had wisdom of a scholar and an impeccable memory. She was a great teacher and was proud to share her life stories. She was most famous for making her delicious tamales, so much so that they made all the way to Japan!

Olga is preceded in death by her son, Lincoln Alonzo; parents Porfirio and Adela Guerrero; sisters Delia Camacho, Candelaria Saldivar; brother Robert Guerrero, grand-daughters, Yvonne Rivera, Ariel Haddix, Juliana Cruz, grandsons, Gabriel Melchor, Patrick Haddix, Jr. Sebastian Cruz and Charlie Alonzo.

Olga is survived by her husband Cerildo Pena Alonzo; daughters Martha Jo Melchor and husband Daniel, Patricia Scott and husband Robert, Yolanda Alonzo Rivera, Dolores Martinez and husband Ruben, Angelina Hernandez and husband Simon; sons Orlando Alonzo and wife Rose, Abraham Alonzo and wife Sandra; sisters Angelita Munoz, Sobeida Cantu. As well as 25 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm with a funeral service starting at 5:00 pm at Master's Plan World Outreach Church where she attended for 27 years and was lifetime friends of former Pastors Albert and Della Salazar.

The final viewing will be Monday, July 31, 2023, at Scott Funeral Home from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Internment will be at Confederate Cemetery following the final viewing. A reception will be held following the final viewing at Knights of Columbus (129 County Road 146, Alvin, TX)  from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
