Nolen Ray Glaze, Sr., age 80, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Nolen was born on February 6, 1942 in Logan, Texas and was a resident of Pearland for 51 years. Nolen is preceded in death by his daughter, Sabrina Stewart and grandson, Devon Guidry.

Nolen is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, De(Lois) Ritnour Glaze; children, Tammy Guidry and husband Greg, Melanie Glaze, Nolen Glaze, Jr. and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Caleb, Danielle, Amber, Dalton and Clara; 5 great grandchildren;  special family members, Donald Ritnour and Rollie Martinez.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Manvel, 6900 Masters Road. Manvel, Texas 77578. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Manvel. Interment will be held immediately after services at Confederate Cemetery, Alvin, Texas.

After meeting the love of his life, Lois and marrying in 1965, Nolen took his family to Pearland, TX for better opportunities being a lifelong resident of Pearland.

Nolen Sr was a welder his entire working life with many projects at McGinnis and Dearman International.  Moving to Subsea Ventures/Oilstates Industries with many subsea projects and the exclusive welder for one of the largest oil companies in the world before retiring in 2011 after 21 years of service.  Making many lifelong friends along the way.  Although Nolen did not graduate high school, he could read a blueprint like no other and process math like he was a Texas Instruments scientific calculator.

Being retired for the last 11 years, Nolen joined the Melvin Knapp Activity Center and spent many days playing dominoes with his new friends Mrs. Lillie, Billy Lewis, Gerald Hodges and Patrick Baker.  Constantly giving Randi a hard time because there was no coffee.

After many instances of the wife getting on to him for not going to church with her, he begrudgingly started attending First Baptist Church of Manvel, TX and decided it wasn't such a bad thing and the church band being his favorite.  Even enjoying his discussions and coffee with Pastor Steve.

Nolen was a man of few words however you knew exactly what he thought and he didn't care whether you agreed with him or not…he still loved you for who you were.

As we celebrate Nolen's life let's not remember the last few months, let's remember the entire 80 years of his laughter and love for everyone that he came in contact with.
