Maynard Dale Johnson, age 66 of Friendswood, formerly of Pearland, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family after a three year, well fought battle with MSA (Multiple System Atrophy). Maynard was born on September 23, 1956 in Odessa, Texas and was Baptist by faith. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1975 and went on to earn his bachelors degree in Natural Gas Engineering from Texas A&I in 1984. He worked for many years as a Petroleum Engineer and was published in the SPE Journal of Petroleum Technology and presented the paper at the SPE conference in Florence, Italy. In 1978 he married his best friend, Tanya Sue Neagle. Maynard's top priorities were always his wife, children and faith. He spent many nights cheering Greg on at Pearland basketball games and supporting Kimberly and Brooks as part of The Pride of Pearland Marching Band percussion Pit Crew. Besides his family, he was an avid fan of the Houston Astros, Texas Longhorn football and America's team, the Dallas Cowboys. Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Lee and Estell Johnson, sister-in-law, Jean Slayton, father-in-law, Eddie Neagle and wife, Joan, and mother-in-law, Nelda Faseler.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Tanya Johnson, son, Greg Johnson and wife Libby, daughter, Kimberly Flaherty and husband Martin, son, Brooks Johnson, brother Otha Slayton, sister, Shirley Kelley and husband John, brother, Guylan Johnson and wife Pat, father-in law, Richard Faseler, and five grandchildren, Will, Jackson, Josh, Sam, Charlotte, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 AM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas. Interment will follow in the Confederate Cemetery.
