Mary Kathleen McMahon, better known as "Kathy," "Kat," and "Gigi," passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2026. She was born in Houston, Texas to Richard McMahon and Billie Porter on September 17, 1962.

Kathy graduated from Waltrip High School in 1981 before continuing her education at Harris County Community College. She earned her Dental Tech certification and began her career as a dental technician. Later, she transitioned into the insurance industry, where she dedicated more than 30 years of service.

Kathy's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother who never missed a school function, softball game, band performance, or animal show. Her girls always knew how proud she was of them because she never failed to say it. Her love was constant, unwavering, and unconditional.

To her grandbabies, she was "Gigi," a title she wore so proudly. She cherished every moment spent with them. She was Trae's all time fishing buddy hands down. She was Trae and Kason's biggest cheerleader at every ballgame and school function. She was the best at pretend play and coming up with the best make-believe games with Austin. She created the sweetest memories for the littles from bringing Trippy his favorite donuts with blue icing and sprinkles, to teaching Riley Roo that ice cream tastes better when eaten with your fingers. It was in these simple moments that her love shined the brightest.

Kathy never met a stranger. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome, loved, and understood. She was the kind of person who would go out of her way to help anyone in need. To many, she was a trusted confidant, a keeper of secrets, and a safe place, someone you could tell absolutely anything to without fear of judgment. Her kindness, warmth, humor, and selflessness left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Kathy was a proud colon cancer survivor. After being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2016, she faced the battle with incredible strength and determination. She remained in remission for the next nine years, an accomplishment she carried with immense pride.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable hole in our hearts, her legacy lives on through the love she gave so freely, the family she adored, and the countless lives she touched throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Kathy is preceded in death by her grandparents Lewis and Isabel MacMahon (Mamma Mac and Daddy Mac), William "Boots" and Maddie Lou Hulon, and mother Billie Porter.

Kathy is survived by her daughters Megan Welker and husband Chris, Jessica Salinas and husband Rene, step children Tana, Michael, Jeffery Butler and their dad Mark Butler, father Richard McMahon, boyfriend Anthony Vasquez, sister Julie McMahon, brother James "Jim" McMahon and wife Patty, grandchildren Trae Sambrano, Kason Salinas, Tripp Salinas, Austin Welker and Riley Welker, nephews Lewis McMahon and wife Emilia, Thomas McMahon and Jacob Stackable.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 6th, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home from 10-11am, with a memorial service to begin at 11am. The family asks that you wear purple in her honor. It was her most favorite color 💜
