Mary Ann Ermis, age 84 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.  Mary Ann was born May 1, 1941 in El Campo, Texas and had been a resident of Alvin for 59 years.

Mary Ann grew up in El Campo, attended St. Philip Catholic School and graduated from El Campo High School in 1959. She attended Lydia Beauty School in Houston. Mary Ann married the love of her life, Clarence Ermis, on April 23,1960 at St. Philip Catholic Church. She owned and operated a beauty shop in El Campo, Texas for four years before moving to Alvin in 1966 when Clarence accepted a job with Monsanto.  She worked at Alvin Community Hospital in the Medical Records department. In 1974, Mary Ann became the first cosmetology teacher at the Alvin High School Vocational Department and then went on to teach Distributive Education at Friendswood High School until she retired.

Mary Ann was a longtime member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 2073 and received her 60 year pin in 2024.

Mary Ann had a variety of interests and hobbies. Being an avid traveler took her to many places worldwide with frequent visits to Europe. Fishing was her favorite activity while enjoying many years at the lake house in Canyon Lake and at their Treasure Island Bay house.  Mary Ann's creative side led her to floral design and decorating for family and friends. Her greatest joy of all though was her five grandsons and one great granddaughter. She was the best Grammy.  Mary Ann was very committed to her family and her faith and will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lillie Dornak; brothers, Marine 1st Lieutenant Leonard Dornak and Air Force Sr. Master Sargent Benny Dornak.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Clarence Ermis; son, Jeff Ermis and wife Yvonne; daughter, Gwen Obert and husband Greg; sister, Helen Blankenburg; brother, Tommy Dornak and wife Joan; grandchildren, Gregory Obert and wife Amber, Quaid Obert, Ian Ermis, Ethan Ermis and Evan Ermis; great grandchild, Riley Obert; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Monday, May 12, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. A reception will be held in Mary's honor immediately following Mass.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Holy Cross Memorial Park Cemetery in El Campo, Texas.
