Mary Avitts, age 77 of Alvin, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2026 at a personal care home in Alvin, Texas. Mary was born May 31, 1948 in Dallas, Texas and was a 35-year resident of Alvin. She was a proud homemaker and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Alvin. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Avitts; parents, Edward and Mary Shipp Jr.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary E. Avitts; sons, Grant Taylor, Erik Taylor and wife Mireya,  Nathan Taylor and wife Maria, Ben Taylor, Darren Taylor and wife Judy; grandchildren, Amaya Rodriguez, Malia Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez Jr., Madison Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Dane Taylor, Katarina Perez, Mikaela Perez, Jordan Wat, Nicholas Taylor, Brook'lynne McConnell, Pedro Taylor, Angelina Taylor, Nadia Taylor, Korbyn Taylor, Lilyanna Taylor, and Wynter Bunla; 16 great grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (2700 Lehi Lane - Alvin, TX 77511). Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
