Maria Alaniz, age 77 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Monday, October 26, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family. Maria was born on October 4, 1949 in Mexico and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for over 30 years. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Ascencion and Tomasa Meza, son, Ricardo Alaniz.

Maria is survived by her husband, Fidel Alaniz, daughters, Cristina Alaniz and husband Servando Macias, Griselda Hernandez and husband Saul, Erika Alaniz and husband Uriel Garcia, sons, Aurelio Alaniz and wife Lourdes, Manuel Alaniz and wife Maribel, Fidel Alaniz, Jr., Marcos Alaniz and wife Lizett, Sergio Alaniz and wife Andrea, sister, Eva Meza Gaucin, daughter in law, Maria Gracia, and 21 grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, 2026 starting at 5:00 PM at the family’s home in Alvin, Texas. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, October 30, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Catholic Church Alvin, Texas. Interment will follow in the Confederate Cemetery.
