Margaret "Maggie" Johnson passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Harbour Hospice Facility in Houston, Texas. Maggie was born on Aug. 1, 1955, to George A. and JoAnn Lovick, Jr. in Longview, TX.  She graduated from Longview High School, Kilgore College and Texas Women's Univ. in Denton, TX.

After graduation she moved back to Longview.  She met the man who became the "love of her life", Dennis Johnson.  They married in July 1980. In a few months, Dennis accepts a position with the Boy Scouts of America in New Orleans, LA.  They grew to love the food, and friendly people in New Orleans.  However, they still missed Texas.  After a couple of years, an opportunity allowed them to move back to Texas. Alvin, Texas that is.

Dennis became a teacher at Alvin Elementary and Maggie was a substitute teacher.   The next year, Maggie was hired as a Library Aide at Alvin Elementary.  She continued working there for many years until retiring in 2014 after 29 years.  Dennis retired years earlier after 23 years .and passing away in Oct. 2015.

Maggie loved to plan trips and Dennis loved driving.  They traveled to Canada, Florida, Mexico, Washington (State), Iowa and Colorado just to name a few. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in July 2015.

She loved her family and loved her friends like family.  Although she was not blessed with any children of her own, she was affectionately known as "Aunt Maggie" to many.  She enjoyed being the fun "Aunt Maggie".  She honors a favorite great-aunt she had as a child, when she selected gifts to young nieces and nephews.

Maggie always loved to share a funny story or joke.  (usually more than one.)  Some jokes, she knew Dennis hated but that didn't stop her re-telling them.   After she retired, she became "involved" in family genealogy.  Thanks to several websites, she spent hours tracing family members back through the generations.  Occasionally, she would send family members an e-mail or "file" about an interesting ancestor.

She is predeceased by her parents, her in-laws and husband.  Surviving Maggie, sister Judy Buckstaff, husband Russell and brother Bill Lovick, wife Krista. Niece Lindsay Aaron, husband Josh with great-nieces Maddie Aaron and Hannah Aaron and great-nephew Wiliam Aaron.  Nephew Christopher Buckstaff.   Special friends and bonus family members: Pam Hickerson and husband Bob, sister Cindy Welch, nephews Perry Welch, wife Diana, John Welch and wife Rene. Godson & nephew Kelly Welch, wife Lorrie and nephew Aaron Paul, wife Jennifer. Great-nieces Ivanna Welch and Isabel Welch, and Miya Perdon husband Ace. Great-Nephew Jason Briscoe and wife Renee and great-great-niece Hailey Briscoe. Great -nephews William Welch, Benjamin Welch, Ethan Welch, Mark Paul and Austin Paul.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home.

Many thanks to her "Angel" helpers.  Maggie felt blessed to have each one of you in her life.  She truly appreciated all of the "help" you gave her.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Houston Area Parkinson's Society or a favorite charity.   A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
