Margaret Ruth Gardner, age 76 of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026. Margaret was born December 4, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas.

Margaret, a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She will be remembered for her radiant personality, her generous heart, and the unmistakable joy she brought to everyone she met.

Margaret attended Houston Baptist College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Guided by a deep passion for education, she began her teaching career in 1971 and continued shaping young minds for more than 40 years. Among her proudest achievements was helping start Sugar Creek Baptist Church School, which later grew into Fort Bend Baptist Academy—an enduring testament to her commitment to Christian education.

Outside the classroom, Margaret found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved reading, playing cards, singing, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren. She always had a song in her heart, and those around her often heard her humming or singing as naturally as breathing. Her grandchildren were her greatest delight, and she never missed an opportunity to share stories about them with anyone willing to listen.

Margaret's personality was larger than life. She never met a stranger, greeting everyone with warmth, laughter, and a sense of welcome that made people feel instantly at ease. Her pride in being an American was unmistakable—she frequently wore red, white, and blue, and was a proud supporter of our troops.

Margaret lived boldly, loved deeply, and left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy of joy, kindness, faith, and unwavering pride will continue to shine through her family and all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Russell Gardner; parents Robert James Pirie and Ruth Lucille Pirie; and sister Carolyn Ann Pirie.

She is survived by her daughter Kristin Hallows and husband, Mark; son Bryan Jeffrey Gardner and his wife, Anna; brother Robert James Pirie Jr.; her grandchildren Trenton Chase Gardner, Lily Victoria Gardner, and Kaylee Ann Moorehead; nephews, Robert James Pirie III, James Pirie and wife, Donna, Michael "Joe Bob" Pirie and his wife, Lindsey; along with many other family members and dear loved ones.

A Memorial Service will be held, Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Chapel in Sugar Land, Texas starting at 11:00 A.M. Family encourages those attending to wear red, white, and blue.
