Manuel Gomez Jr., age 74 of Fresno, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026 in Sugarland, Texas.  Manuel was born July 18, 1952 in Austin, Texas, and was a resident of Fresno since 1979. He worked for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) for 30+ years.  He provided for his family via roles as an electrician, multi-skilled facility maintenance worker, a machinist, and started in the work force as a teenager working in carpentry.

Manuel had a deep love for others and a deep appreciation for God's creation.  His dedication to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was the foundation of his commitment to family and friends. Whether it was his joy of conversation, his infectious sense of humor, his quick wit, sharing his convictions, or teaching a skill or life lesson, many people were drawn to a deep connection with him. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Isabel Gomez Sr., and sisters, Rosie Almaguer, Martha Gomez, and Liz Guzman.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Miriam Gomez; daughter, Zilah Schiener and her husband Robert; son, Manuel Gomez III and his wife Ronda; grandchildren, Sarah Gomez, Chloe Schiener, Carolina Gomez, Izabela Schiener, Maya Gomez, and Manuel Isaac Gomez IV; sisters, Julia Kiddy, Lydia Dunham, Mary Gonzales, Juanita Fitzgerald and Julie Jeter; along with numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM. A private interment for his wife, children, and grandchildren will be held following the service. Extended family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life fellowship and luncheon at Sandy Point Bible Church Family Life Center at 119 County Road 42, Sandy Point, Texas 77583 following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Manuel's honor to a ministry of your choice.
