Lona Sammie Cole, age 88 of Manvel, Texas, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 at Tuscany Village Nursing Home in Pearland, Texas. Lona was born July 6, 1935, to Sam and Mabel Camazzola in Manvel, Texas where she grew up working on a dairy farm. She worked at Evans Grocery Store for several years until she became a stay at home mom. When her daughter started first grade, she started working in the cafeteria at Manvel Elementary and later became the cafeteria manager at E.C. Mason Elementary; she continued to work at Alvin ISD for 22 years until she retired to babysit her first grandchild.

Lona loved gardening and cooking. The azaleas, blue bonnets, and butterfly bushes were always in full bloom in her yard; and her kitchen had the smell of homemade cookies, cakes, or pies.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Lona is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mabel Camazzola; brother, Pete Camazzola; sisters, Louise Hooper, Gena Murphy, and Helen Cole. Lona is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Cole; daughter, Lisa Brady and husband Daniel; sister, Neta Marie Henry and husband Donald; brother, Melvin Joe Camazzola and wife Linda; grandchildren, Todd Brady and wife Elaine, Morgan Brady and husband Gene Chesson; great grandchildren, Orion Chesson, Lilith Chesson and Cordelia Chesson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers: Steven "Andy" Henry, Dustin Camazzola, Cole Moody, Dennis Moody, Jim Ed Cole, and John Cole.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Scott Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Manvel Cemetery.

Alvin ISD has played a pivotal part in Lona's life as a student and an employee. Her daughter and  grandchildren are graduates of Alvin ISD, as well as former and current employees.
