Lloyd Donald Morgan was born December 3, 1934 in Navarro County, Texas to Errie E. Friday and Lloyd E. Morgan. He passed from this life with his family at his side on June 13, 2023 at the age of 88.

Don was raised in Arcadia and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1953 where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He married his high school sweetheart, Patty Davenport, in 1955 and they remained married for over 59 years until her passing in 2014. Pops took great pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with them whether it be at the ball field or a recital hall. He especially enjoyed day trips with his daughters to Naskila for a some one-armed bandit action. Don was a lab technician at Union Carbide for 36 years. He enjoyed traveling, slot machines, and working in his shop. He was very skilled in wood turning and created many items that will forever be treasured by his loved ones. He was the last of the original seventeen members of Arcadia First Baptist Church having joined upon its'  origination in 1945. Don was a strong Christian man who faithfully served his church in many capacities including being a deacon and the "keeper of the well".  He was a role model and mentor to many. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed forever. The family is forever grateful for the love, assistance and companionship provided to Pops by his grandson Caleb Welch and nephews Harold and Jason Lewis.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patty and son-in-law Charles Lee Welch Jr.

He is survived by wife, Bert Chesshir Morgan; daughters, Donna and Ricky Iles; Debbie and Jim Abney; Darla and Mike McCullough and Diana Welch. Grandchildren Wendy Falcon, Cori (Ryan) Magruder, Derrick (Holly) Abney,  Dustin (Crystal) Abney, Blair (Katie) Casey, Meghan (Carter) Tynes,  Mikey (Kristin) McCullough and Caleb Welch. Great-grandchildren Morgan Falcon, Bailey Link, Aidan Green-Abney, Embrey Abney, Ryder Abney, Cora and Ruby Casey and Paxton and Isla Magruder. Pops was also excited to soon welcome two more great-grandsons, Baby Boy Tynes and Baby Boy McCullough. Also grieving are his loyal dogs, Radar and Riley.

Services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Arcadia First Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 9:00 and funeral service at 10:00. Internment at South Park Cemetery in Pearland will be held at a later date.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Derrick Abney, Blair Casey, Ryan Magruder,, Dustin Abney, Carter Tynes, Mikey McCullough, Caleb Welch and Jason Lewis.
