Leticia Lira, age 65, of Alvin, Texas, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston, Texas. Leticia was born August 27, 1960, in Mexico and was a resident of Alvin for more than 30 years.

At the center of Leticia's life was her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, she found her greatest joy in caring for the people she loved. Her generosity extended far beyond her immediate family. Throughout her life, she opened her heart and home to others, including many children she helped care for and watched grow up as if they were her own. Whether someone needed a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply something to eat, Leticia gave whatever she could.

Feeding people was one of the many ways Leticia showed her love. Her cooking, especially her rice and pozole became part of the family's traditions. Her grandchildren often requested Grandma's cooking for their birthday meals, and when Leticia was cooking, there was always room for someone else at the table.

Leticia treasured simply being together with family, whether at home in Texas or visiting loved ones in Mexico and California. She loved music and dancing, laughing with her sisters, and spending time surrounded by the people she loved. As the big sister in her family, she was more than a sister to many, she was a second mother.

Her faith was also an important part of her life. Leticia was a woman of prayer and cherished the community she found through her Friday prayer and Bible study group at Grace Church. She spoke often and lovingly about the members of that group to her family and about her family to them.

Anyone who knew Leticia also knew she liked things clean and in their place. Even when physical pain made standing difficult, she could still find something that needed cleaning, organizing or rearranging. It was simply part of who she was, always caring for her home and for the people around her.

Of all the things Leticia treasured, her grandchildren held an especially large piece of her heart. She was deeply proud of the people they were becoming, their accomplishments, their careers and the lives they were building. Her love for them, for her children, for her husband and for her mother was evident in the countless ways she cared for them throughout her life.

Leticia will be remembered not only for how deeply she loved her family, but for the way she showed that love, by feeding people, helping them, praying for them, caring for them and making sure they knew exactly what she thought. Her presence filled her family's homes and gatherings, and the love she poured into so many people will remain a part of them for generations to come.

Leticia is preceded in death by her father, Simon Salazar; sister, Angelica Salazar; and brother, Jorge Salazar.

Leticia is survived by her husband of 45 years, Cornelio Lira; daughters, Susana Lira and Miriam Lira; son, Ricardo Lira; grandchildren, Oscar Martinez, Damian Ramirez, Cristian Alvarado and Atzi Alvarado; mother, Teresa Salazar; sisters, Sylvia Salazar, Rosa Guzman and Patricia Guzman; brothers, Victor Salazar and Jose De Jesus Salazar; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home with interment to follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Alvin.
