Leona May Weaver, age 83 of Alvin, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Kozy Korner assisted living facility in Alvin where she succumbed to the cruel disease of Alzheimer's after a 2 ½ year battle.

Leona May Fassy was born at home on February 24, 1939, in Pasadena, Texas, and later attended Milby High School. At the age of 16, Leona met her forever love, Horace Weaver, at the Fort Bend Steakhouse in Katy where they both worked and later married in the summer of 1955. They made their home in College Station where she ran a small nursery and welcomed the birth of Sherman and Grace. After Horace graduated the family relocated to Corpus Christi. The busy household expanded with the addition of Jeanette and later Lance. Judy, age 15, joined the family via adoption during their time in Corpus Christi. Leaning hard into the role of wife and mother, Leona managed the modest household with four young children and one teenager at the age of 22. The family moved to San Antonio in where the family stayed and thrived for several years along with the addition of Joey in 1963. The family later moved to Zuhel, Texas, and then to Alvin in 1973 where she resided for the balance of her life.

Leona had a wonderful gift of compassion for others, putting their needs before her own. She expressed this by how she cared for her immediate and extended family through times of sickness and sorrow. During their marriage, Leona and her husband Horace were the anchors in many people's lives. On numerous occasions, they opened their hearts and home to help someone in their time of need. Understanding and non-judgmental, she always welcomed everyone with open arms, and with a gentle hand guided them through their challenging life journey. Leona was married to Horace for 59 years until his passing in 2014.

Leona had a heartfelt commitment to her chosen faith. She loved, trusted, and followed Jesus, modeling to her family and friends peace and certainty that no matter the circumstances, things would always turn out well. Leona was well known, loved, and respected by the members of the Manvel Bible Chapel in Pearland where she enjoyed the sermons and singing, and could reliably be found in the kitchen preparing for shared meals. Leona's departure has reminded everyone that it is necessary to have a relationship with Jesus Christ now and forevermore.

Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Weaver; daughters, Judy Wehe and Grace Underwood; father, Leon Fassy Sr., and stepmother Nellie May Fassy; mother, Elaine Pruitt, and stepfather, Walter Pruitt Sr.; sister, Joyce Kirchman; brother, Walter "Eddie" Pruitt Jr.; step sisters Marie Kennedy and Patsy Arnold, and step brother James "Buddy" Holstein; granddaughter, Geraldine Wehe and great-grandson Reece Wehe Pruski.

Leona is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Cavanaugh, and husband, David; sons, Sherman Weaver and wife, Cheryl, Lance Weaver and wife, Sue, Joey Weaver and wife, Tracy; nephew, Shawn Weaver, and wife, Caprice; sons-in-law, Nolan Wehe and Rick Underwood; brothers, Leon Fassy Jr. and Ray Pruitt; step sisters, Jo Monday and Emily Dustin; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 10, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home, 1421 E. Hwy 6, Alvin, Texas 77511. Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M.
