Lela Jeanette Nesbit, age 64, of Alvin, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on September 12, 1960, in Belton, Texas, Lela was a beloved lifelong resident of Alvin. For many years, she worked in the school cafeteria for Alvin ISD, where her nurturing spirit and warm smile made a lasting impact on countless students and staff. Lela was also known as the best country cook around, delighting family and friends with her delicious meals and generous heart.

Known for her "tell it like it is" personality, Lela was refreshingly honest and direct, often bringing laughter and joy to those around her. Her faith as a devoted Christian guided her life, shaping her kindness and generosity. Lela was preceded in death by her parents, Lavada "Christine "and Arthur "Bud" Shafer.

As a loving mom and cherished nana, Lela was a mother and grandmother to all who needed one, offering her love and support without question. She is survived by her husband, Jessie Nesbit; her daughter, Jessica Ferrel and husband David; her son, Christopher Langford and wife Linda Mihalec; and her four grandchildren, Kiefer, and Lavada, Kendall and Jerry who brought immense happiness to her life. She also leaves behind her dear brother, William Shafer and wife Pamela, along with numerous relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember Lela's warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family along with her strength and heroic nature. Her spirit and legacy will continue to live on and inspire all who knew her.
