It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Lynch, a beloved father of 4, brother, and friend, who left us on September 9, 2023 at the age of 68 after a long battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Alvin, Texas, and his presence in our lives will be deeply missed.

Larry was born in 1955 to Betty Speed and Ernest (Jimmy) Lynch. From an early age, he had a love for music, learning to play the guitar in the 5th grade. He had a knack for playing songs by ear and played in a band in his younger years. He maintained a lifelong love for music and was most at peace when he could sit outside and listen to his favorite songs, especially by the Beatles.

Larry worked in construction throughout his life, first working for Roy Powell in his 20s and later for Whirlwind as a foreman. When he was in his 30s he started his own steel construction company, K&L Construction with a close friend. He poured his dedication and hard work into every project he undertook and was known for his strong work ethic and for always being fair and reliable.

Larry stayed busy outside of work too. He was the person you would call on when you needed help. He was extremely smart and a jack of all trades. He spent countless hours in the service of others, lending his time and talent in any way he could. Whether it was cooking meals, helping his kids with challenging math problems or writing a paper, hosting children from the neighborhood for pizza on a Friday night, assisting friends or relatives with household projects, helping someone to move, build, or fix something– Larry was always more than willing to lend a helping hand. He never complained or asked for a favor in return. He had an impeccable character and gave selflessly throughout his life.

When he wasn't doing for others, he spent his free time building and woodworking around the house, fishing, cooking on his smoker, watching and quoting his favorite movies with his kids, caring for family pets, or sharing a laugh with friends and family. Larry was a wonderful storyteller and had an undeniable charm and wit about him that never faded. He will be remembered for this, his unwavering spirit, his giving nature, and the joy and laughter he provided for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held on November 19th at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, TX at 2pm. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larry's memory to a charity of your choice.

Larry is survived by his children, Amanda Lynch (Jeff Frost), Danny (Carrie) Lynch, Ryan Hill, and Brittney Hill; his grandchildren Asher and Rose Frost; his mother Betty Speed; his sister, Nancy (Charlie) Goodson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his former spouse Rene Lynch, brother Brian Lynch; father Jimmy Lynch; paternal grandparents Bessie and Ernest Lynch; and maternal grandparents Frank and Marguerite McKinney.

Larry's family would also like to acknowledge and send their heartfelt appreciation to Carmen Severa Garcia, who selflessly cared for him during his illness and was with him when he passed. Her dedication and compassion provided comfort during a challenging time, and for this, his family will always be grateful.

May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the music he loved, the memories he created, and the love he shared with so many over the years.
