Kathy Kyger Hood, age 78 of Brazoria, Texas, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at home with her sister-in-law Margaret by her side. Kathy was born January 17, 1947, to Bryan Kyger Jr. and Mary LaNelle Brust Kyger Baker. She spent her childhood in Navasota and Tyler Texas, and told stories with great fondness of summer visits to her grandmother's home in Henderson, Texas. Kathy had a passion for horses and rode down many trails throughout her years on the back of her horse "Tuffy". At the end of each ride, you could find Kathy and her husband Riley swapping stories and jokes with fellow trail riders. Kathy retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where she was a correctional officer.

Kathy is preceded in death by her cherished husband Riley Hood; sister Karen Treadaway and daughter Lisa Jordan.

Kathy is survived by her son, Steven Kinzer; grandchildren Bryce Kinzer and Savannah Jordan; brother John Kyger and wife Marianne; sister-in-law Margaret Chupp, whom she lovingly called "sister", and husband Clifton, as well as many extended family and friends.

Kathy had a sweet and compassionate soul and was loved by everyone that met her and will be dearly missed.

A visitation will be held at Scott Funeral Home Monday, August 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place at Confederate Cemetery following the funeral services.
