Joyce Faye King Nunnery, age 88 of Alvin, Texas, entered God's kingdom on Friday, August 25, 2023, at her home with family by her side. Joyce was born October 2, 1934, in Woodville, Mississippi to Loy and Ruby King, Sr.

Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Lloyd Nunnery, and together they shared 70 years of love and devotion to one another.  Truly the love of one another's lives, they would often be seen in town holding hands in matching outfits and were seldom apart from one another.  They went on to have 6 children.  Joyce was a 51-year resident of Alvin where she worked as a tax professional until her retirement.  She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Alvin.

In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed competing in bridge tournaments, often hosting them at her home with friends, and achieved the Life Master title from the American Contract Bridge League.  From an early age, Joyce delighted in sewing and became an avid seamstress, even entering family outfits in local competitions.

Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Pendergrast; parents, Loy and Ruby King Sr.; sisters, Dorothy Matthews, Annie Marler and Edith King; brothers, Loy King Jr., Billy King and Richard King.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 70 years, Samuel Lloyd Nunnery; daughters, Lisa Callahan and husband Chris, Ginger Hanchey; sons, Michael Nunnery and wife Sandra, Stephen Nunnery and wife Diane, Tony Nunnery and wife Barbara; sister, Minnie Marie Phillips; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Monday, August 28, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Alvin with funeral services beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
