Johnny Ray Mc Farland, 77, of Alvin, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 12, 2024, in Austin, Texas. Johnny graduated from George West High School in 1965. He loved football and he received the award of Texas All-State Team 1964. From 1965-1970 he attended Rice University and transferred to Texas A&l in Kingsville, Texas where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in education. His first coaching job was in Weslaco, Texas working with his high school football coach, J.D. Centilli. In 1973, he followed Coach Centilli to Alvin High School where he remained the rest of his teaching career until he retired in 2000.

Johnny enjoyed watching all sports but especially loved working with kids, coaching them in baseball or football, teaching them in his wood shop class, and his Drivers Ed School. Johnny loved woodworking, fishing and hunting. But he especially loved spending time with his family at his cabin in Wyoming and the deer lease in Llano, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Frances and George Fitzhugh Mc Farland.

Johnny is survived by his children, Kelley Mc Crummen and Jimmy; Craig Mc Farland and wife Julia; Kimberly Tidwell and husband Raymond. Pawpaw loved his grandchildren, Allen Rosser and wife Kayleen; Kara Rosser and Jose; Christopher Hays, Jr. and Arin; Kayla Hays and Payton; Jet and Jax Mc Farland; Christin Tidwell and wife Alex; Taylor Boutain and husband Dalton; his pride and joy his great-grandchildren: Jase and Mason Rosser; Kali Johnson; and Christopher Hays, III; Slayton and Parker Tidwell; Sawyer Boutain along with his beloved companion Cooper and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Johnny's name to the Parkinsons Association or the American Heart Association.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM with Funeral Services beginning at 4:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas.
