John Dewayne Hooks passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 24, 2025. He was unwavering in love and support for his family. J.D. was deeply committed to faith, church and missionary work. He was truly a blessing to everyone he met and always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be profoundly missed.

J.D. is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Hettie Hooks; his devoted wife of 60 years, Thelma Hooks; 3 brothers and 4 sisters; He is survived by his children, Michael Hooks, Katherine Vandermolen (Tom), Jodye Royal, Jeffrey Hooks (LeeAnn), Steven Hooks (Judith); 10 grandchildren, Jessica Cushway, Kaye Raska, Jared Hooks, Mason Hooks, Dylan Hooks, Wyatt Hooks, Amber Lee Royal, Michaela Hooks, Sophia Hooks and Emily Hooks; 6 great grandchildren, Dakotah, Tristan, Caden, Steele, John and Jolyn.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, March 28, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church (5307 Ladonia Street Arcola, Texas 77583) with interment to follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
