Jesús “Chuy” Manuel Torres-Candanosa, age 45, of Alvin, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at his home with family by his side. Jesús was born February 20, 1981, in Monterrey, Mexico, and had recently moved to Alvin after being a longtime resident of Pasadena, Texas.
Jesús had a deep love for music, which was much more than a profession to him. Music was a passion he joyfully shared with others, whether playing for churches or performing alongside fellow musicians in live bands. He treasured the opportunity to use his musical gifts to serve others, bring people together, and create lasting memories through the songs he played. His love for music and his involvement in the church community allowed him to build meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life.
Above all, Jesús held a deep and abiding faith in God. Throughout his battle with cancer, he found peace and strength in the promises of the Lord. The words of Psalm 91, which speak of finding refuge in the shelter of the Most High and resting in the shadow of the Almighty, reflected the comfort he found in God's presence. Even in the face of life's greatest uncertainties, Jesus held fast to his faith, trusting in the Lord as his refuge and strength. His faith was an important part of who he was, sustaining him through difficult days and reminding those around him of the enduring hope found in God.
Jesús was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished son and brother, and faithful friend. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his passion for music, and the love he shared with his family, friends, and church community. Though his absence leaves a profound sadness in the lives of those who knew him, the memories he leaves behind and the legacy of faith, love, and music he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
Jesús is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Torres; daughter, Penelope Torres; parents, Jesús and Evila Torres; sister, Bernice Torres; niece, Brianna Aldape; nephew, Elias Aldape; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Apostolic Church (1211 Harris Ave., Pasadena, Texas 77506), with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM.
