On Friday, June 6, 2025, Jerry Lynn Lukens, Sr. peacefully passed away in his sleep, entering into heaven's glory. There is no doubt he was welcomed with loving arms by those who went before him: his beloved wife Betty Lukens, his parents Floyd William Lukens Sr. and Thelma Hornback Lukens, his sister Joyce Bergmann, and his brother Floyd William Lukens Jr.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Theresa Riddle and husband Larry, and son, Jerry Lukens, Jr. Grandchildren, Ryan Riddle and wife Casey, Laura Wilkerson and husband Michael, Reece Riddle and wife Katrina, Nathan Riddle and wife Chelsea and Great Grandchildren, Rylee, Kaylee, Elizabeth, Charlee, Blane, Blair, Bennett and Nolan.

Jerry was a proud American patriot who deeply loved his country. Jerry served in the Air Force reserve from 1963-1971 with certifications in Small Arms marksmanship and Sharpshooter. He was a man who never met a stranger—his gentle spirit, warm smile, and engaging personality left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Jerry had a lifelong fascination with communication and weather. In the 1970s and '80s, he was an avid ham radio and CB radio enthusiast, forming connections across the airwaves long before the internet age. He also took pride in serving as a local television "weather watcher," faithfully charting hurricane paths by hand—marking each new forecasted coordinate with excitement and precision.

A true son of Alvin, Texas, Jerry was born and raised here and graduated with the Alvin High School Class of 1959. He continued his education at both Alvin Junior College and San Jacinto Junior College. He dedicated 21 years of service as a piping designer at Brown & Root before retiring. Jerry served as a City Councilman for Hillcrest Village in the 80's and previously was a volunteer at Meals on Wheels and proud member of the Alvin American Legion Post #129 where he recently participated in installing flags on Memorial Day at the Confederate Cemetery.

Friends and Family will gather at 3:00 pm for a viewing with a service to follow at 3:30 on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Confederate Cemetery following the funeral service.
