Janelle Lynn Blackwell was born on January 25, 1983 to her parents, Nelson and Terry Blackwell. She is preceded in death by sister Jessica Blackwell; grandfather John Gamble Sr. and grandmother, Winnie Blackwell. She is survived by her parents; sisters, Abigail Modawell and husband Spencer, and Kathryn Evers and husband Logan; as well as her nieces, Jessica and Grace Modawell, Adalyn, Emma, and Sadie Evers; nephews, Thomas and Timothy Modawell; and grandparents, James Blackwell and Earlene Gamble. She is also survived by Uncles John Gamble Jr. and Bradley Blackwell; aunts Kim Peacock and Tracey Geelan; and numerous cousins.

Janelle was a very intelligent woman who was known for her strong work ethic and her generosity. Janelle grew up very involved in the youth ministry at Heights Baptist Church where she often worked to coordinate Bible studies. She graduated as a homeschool student and member of the National Honor Society. She then attended Baylor University from 2000- 2002. After some schooling, she returned home to work with her father at Blackwell Fill & Sand until 2004 when she went to work at Vaughn Construction. Once at Vaughn, she quickly became an asset and worked her way up to Chief Pre-Construction Director. She had the opportunity to work on many important projects and found enjoyment and value in her occupation.

One of Janelle's other favorite past-times was watching the Houston Astros play baseball. As a teenager, her family often attended baseball games together at the Astrodome and later at Minute Maid field. Last year, she even had season tickets to see the Astros in person, and she often invited her family over to watch the Astros play baseball at her home.

While Janelle did not have any children of her own, she took great pleasure in spending time with her nieces and nephews. A well known family tradition that Janelle enjoyed were weekly dinners at her Grandma's house where the family would gather together to eat and talk. When she moved back to Alvin in 2021, she made a special point to create a game room in her house for her nieces and nephews to use complete with foosball and as many new and retro games as she could think of. At Christmas, each year, she had a special tree that she set up in the game room for the kids to decorate and bought ornaments that were specially chosen for each of her nieces and nephews.

Each year, Janelle would spend time with her family at a Bay House on Treasure Island. Janelle enjoyed fishing and spending time on the boat with her family there. In 2024, the Family Bay House weekend was different for Janelle. She was in a bit of pain that weekend and when she went to the doctor she received the difficult news that she had ovarian cancer. From the beginning, Janelle wanted to fight this horrible disease. Through surgery, medications, chemo treatments and trials, she fought. On Monday, March 10, 2025, Janelle passed from this earth and into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Janelle is no longer in pain and while she has experienced a physical death of her body, her soul is alive and well.
