James ``Derrick"  Beaver, age 50, of Alvin passed away Friday January 14, 2022 at Harbor Hospice House of Houston.  Derrick was born in Houston, Texas on March 2, 1971 and was a lifetime resident of Alvin, graduating from Alvin High School in 1990. Derrick married Barbara Thompson Beaver in Manvel, Texas in September of 1995. He touched many lives through the things he did, whether it was helping with his son's baseball team growing up treating every kid like his own, racing/ flagman out at the "track " in high school to him helping rescue people after Harvey hit after he won his first battle with colon cancer.  He never failed to put someone else first, most of all his family.  He made sure his grandkids had adventures to talk about and remember. Over the last few years Derrick enjoyed competitive shooting, which has let him and Barbara have some adventures of their own. He was an amazing husband, dad, son, brother and last G-pa!

Derrick was preceded in death by his parents James and Linda Beaver of Alvin Tx and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Buck Martin of Hobbs MN and James Elmo and Lenora Beaver of Salem, OR.

Derrick is survived by his wife Barbara Beaver, daughter- Amanda Woodcock (Jason) Son- Colton Beaver, Sister Meagan Renee Bunker (Allen). Grandchildren: Caleb Woodcock and Kristyn Woodcock, Sister in law- Wanda Turner (Kevin), Karen Lovell, Brother in law -Kevin Lovell Nieces and Nephews- Cole Turner, Justin Bunker, Shelby Bunker, Haylee Bunker and Joshua Bunker, Stephen Turner and Stephanie Brister . Lifelong friends: Dean and Tonya Oliver, Darrell Cobb, Zeeann and Dennis Nelson, Darla Gilmore and Shannon Lambeth, the Townsend family , Laverne Newton and all of their families, and many more friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Scott Funeral Home.
