Isabel Montemayor Gutierrez, a lifelong resident of Alvin, Texas, passed away at age 96 on Monday, April 1, 2024. She was born on August 3, 1927, in Alvin, Texas to parents Matilde and Pedro Montemayor. She graduated from Alvin High School in 1945 and subsequently graduated from Durham Business College the following year.

Isabel met the love of her life, Mauro Gutierrez, in 1947 and they were married two years later in 1949.  They were married for 45 years until his passing in 1994.  As a widow, her love for her late husband remained unwavering until the day she died.  They were blessed with 3 sons, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was a devout Catholic and dedicated member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. Isabel was also a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was recently awarded the 50 Year Service Pin as a chartered member.

Isabel loved her family very much and looked forward to holiday celebrations and family reunions.  She especially enjoyed traveling, having visited several popular tourist attractions in California, Las Vegas, Oregon, Colorado, New York, and Hawaii, to name a few. She took joy in her frequent trips to Coushatta Casino Resort with her girlfriends from Alvin. She was also a dedicated Houston Astros fan and never missed a televised game on her recliner.

In addition to raising her family, Isabel held several jobs throughout her life in numerous industries. Her last employer was Amoco Chemical Corporation, which she retired from after 15 years of service in 1992.  She also served her community as a licensed notary public.

Isabel is preceded in death by her late husband, Mauro, grandson Jerrod Gutierrez, her parents, Pedro & Matilde Montemayor, her brothers, Pete, Larry, and Ernest Montemayor, and her sisters, Cleo Guerrero, Patsy Juarez, and Ophelia Navarro.

She is survived by her son Mauro and wife, Soila, son George, and son Kenneth and wife Myra,

grandchildren Greg Gutierrez, Mauro Gutierrez III, Amanda Solis Rodgriguez, Marcelina Gutierrez, Kenneth Gutierrez II, Matthew Gutierrez, and Zachary Gutierrez.

Per her request, the Pallbearers are grandsons, Greg, Mauro III, Kenneth II, Matthew, Zachary, great-grandson Garek, and in remembrance, Honorary Pallbearer, grandson, Jerrod Thomas Gutierrez.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home, with the Rosary starting at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas
