Gilbert Hernandez Jr., A Modern-Day Superman

It is with heavy hearts yet fond memories that we announce the passing of Gilbert Hernandez Jr., age 71, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Gilbert was a man whose life was defined by his deep love for family, his infectious sense of humor, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved. He passed peacefully surrounded by those who meant the most to him.

Born with a love for sports and a knack for spelling, Gilbert dedicated over 30 years to his work as a proud member of the Teamsters Union, where he formed lifelong friendships and made lasting contributions. His professional career as a truck driver was one marked by commitment, hard work, and providing for his beloved family.

Family was everything to Gilbert, and he lived his life by the motto "Family First." As the proud father of five sons, Gilbert poured his heart into every moment he spent with them. Whether he was coaching their sports teams, sharing jokes, or simply playing around, his greatest joy came from watching his boys grow into men. The bond he shared with his sons was strong and unbreakable, rooted in love and laughter. His grandchildren—11 of them—were the light of his life, bringing him immense pride and happiness.

Gilbert was a man who knew how to bring joy wherever he went. His playful personality, constant joking, and caring heart made him a joy to be around. Always ready to make someone smile, he had an energy that lifted others, reminding them of the simple pleasures in life. To those who knew him, he was more than just a father or friend—he was a modern-day Superman, a man who could handle any challenge with strength, love, and grace.

His passing leaves behind an irreplaceable void, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of his sons, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was, without question, the best father in the world.

Gilbert is survived by his four devoted sons, Gabriel, wife Jennifer, Zachary, wife Mayte, Xavierr, and Jaecobb, wife Courtney and his many adoring grandchildren, who will carry forward his love for family and his zest for life.

In honor of his memory, the family asks that you hold your loved ones a little closer today—just as Gilbert always did.

A visitation will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM.
