Felipe V. Lopez, age 92 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 peacefully in his sleep. Felipe was born September 13, 1931, in San Isidro, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Felipe is preceded in death by his wife, Modesta Lopez, parents Matrimiano and Benita Lopez; daughter Irma Vera; son Michael Lopez.

Felipe married the love of his life, Modesta Ruiz Lopez in 1952. He was a proud Mexican- American and became a US citizen in 1967. He worked early on as a migrant farm worker all over the United States. Once he moved his family to the Alvin area, Felipe found work as a produce man at O'Bannon's in Angleton. He went on to become a produce manager at Stanton's and the Piggly Wiggly. He owned and operated The Oasis Drive-In and The Twins Apartments in Alvin, Texas. He went on to sell insurance for American National in Galveston, TX, from which he retired.

Felipe or "Philip" as he was called by friends had many hobbies that kept him busy however, he was most dedicated to the Knights of Columbus. He was a forty-nine-year member of the Alvin-Manvel Council 6403 Knights of Columbus and for the last twenty-nine years, Felipe held the title of Sir Knight of the Fourth Degree with Assembly 2084 of Pearland, TX.

Felipe is survived by his daughters Noemi Morales and husband Angel, Mary Serna and husband Leonard; sons David Lopez, Carlos Lopez, Jose Lopez, and Noel Lopez. Brother, Federico Lopez. 11 grandchildren, Chris, Jenny, Jose, Sienna, Amber, Coty, Mikie, Peyton, Gavin, Luna, and Isla. 16 great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

He will always be remembered for helping others, his love of golf, raising chickens, reading the newspaper and his big smile. His absence will be felt immensely. The family would like to extend deep gratitude to the staff of Light Heart Memory Care in Pearland, TX for their care of our beloved father. A special thank you to Alison.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday, January 7, 2023, at Scott Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 8, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with interment to follow in the Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
