Ellen (Kollmorgen) Matz, 71, of Alvin, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Ellen was born February 27, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Matz; parents, Marcus and Arline Kollmorgen; and brother, Eric Kollmorgen.

Ellen is survived by her sister, Martha Ann Kollmorgen, and brothers, Mark (Margaret) Kollmorgen and Bruce (Dorothy) Kollmorgen; along with four loving nephews, and other beloved relatives and friends.

She graduated from Lutheran High School in Houston in 1970 and attended Texas Tech University. Ellen was an accomplished photographer and owned her own photography business specializing in weddings, portraits, and large scale projects. She also was a passionate volunteer for the Democratic Party in Texas. Ellen had a wonderful sense of humor and was very creative. She was an avid animal lover, adored her many dogs, and was an amazing gardener.

But the true love of her life was Tim, her husband of 40 years. Their relationship was truly special and their bond for each other was so deep that even when Tim was very ill, they could be seen holding hands and telling each other "I love you more". They were the personification of unconditional love.

A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Scott Funeral Home with visitation prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to ASPCA , Houston Food Bank , or Houston Toys for Tots .
