Elise Virginia Parish, age 95 of Alvin, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 7, 2024. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Elise was born November 1, 1929 at her home in Clem Community, Mississippi, to Margie Ramsay Polk and James Levi Polk. She had been a resident of Alvin since 1969, but always considered Mississippi "home." She worked as a schoolteacher, she was a dedicated homemaker and was a member of Chocolate Bayou Baptist Church, where she played the piano and taught Sunday School for many years. Elise was affectionately known as "Granny." Elise is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stanton Parish; son, James Stanton Parish; infant daughter, Sandra Elise Parish; sisters, Margie Robertson and brother-in-law, Howard, Jamie Moore and brother-in-law, Warren; brother, Jack Polk and sister-in-law, Jackie.

Elise is survived by her eldest son's wife, Allison Parish; sons, Randal Parish and Tony Parish and wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Geoffrey Parish and wife, Shay; Emily Johns and husband, Christopher; Britten Parish and wife, Sarah; Rachel Griffith and husband, Chad; Christine Brice and husband, Clint; great-grandchildren, Levi and Luke Parish; Blake, Bowen and Piper Johns; Reid, Ava and Rhett Parish; Austin Donaghe, Ty, Hunter and Beau Griffith; Caleb and Claire Brice; along with numerous extended family members in Mississippi, who she enjoyed keeping in touch with over the years.

Elise attended Mississippi Women's College where she excelled in academics and basketball. She loved to watch professional basketball on television and played many pickup games in the driveway with her grandchildren, often amazing them with her skills. A highlight for her was attending a Rockets game with Tony and Sherry. She was a wonderful cook and prepared lunch for her family after church every Sunday for as many years as she was able. Her family loved waking up to the sound of her practicing the piano and the smell of lunch in the oven every Sunday morning. She was a selfless and generous giver, always making sure to have birthday cards in the mail and Christmas gifts for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even in the last days of her life. The biggest gift to her family, though, was the example she set of Godliness and dedication to her family.

Special recognition and thanks go to her son Randal for his many years of caregiving, allowing her to live in her home until her passing. Thanks also goes to Robin Tacquard for her support and love in Granny's last days.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Manvel Cemetery with Joe McArthur officiating.
