Douglas Lee Lowey, age 73 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023 in Webster, Texas. Douglas was born on January 10, 1950 in Ennis, Texas and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for over 50 years.

Doug married the love of his life, Sherri on December 31, 1971. Together they raised two daughters and numerous animals and wildlife.

After graduating from Ennis High School, he worked at SP Railroad until his draft into the US Navy. He served in Vietnam in 1970 on a US Navy minesweeper, and again in 1972 on an aircraft carrier. After discharge from the Navy, he returned to SP Railroad for a brief period of time before relocating to Alvin, Texas, with his wife, Sherri. Doug began his career in Alvin with Farm Flying Service, after which he transitioned to a career as a Mechanical Engineer with Intermedics.

Doug enjoyed model airplanes, computers, designing and inventing, electronics, tinkering in his shop and was able to fix just about anything. In his later years he enjoyed showing his grandsons how to repair and build various projects, and they became his greatest treasure.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Horne and Albert Leroy Lowey, sister, Betty Maureen Stewart, brother-in-law, Jerry Newman, and grandson, Dylon Lowey.

Doug is survived by his wife, Sherri Lowey, daughters, Leanne Leslie, Shannon Lowey, sister, Gracie Marie Newman, grandchildren, Kyle Baecker, Logan Leslie, cousins and best friends Gary and Jody Moore, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
