Dorothy Pearl McElveen Kent, age 90 of Alvin, Texas passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at HCA Clear Lake Hospital. Dorothy was born November 22, 1931 in West Columbia, Texas to Edwin and Vera McElveen and graduated from West Columbia High School in 1949. She would go on to marry Leon Wallace Kent of Houston, TX on October 10, 1953. Dorothy had lived in Alvin for the last 15 years and attended Southview Baptist Church in Rosharon, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Wallace Kent; parents, Edwin and Vera McElveen; son, Jeffrey G. Kent; sisters, Myrene Russell, Evelyn Cardiff and Gerry Sullivan; nephews, Charles "Butch" Brandt, Danny Rowell and Jerry Russell.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Stacy Garza and husband Martin; grandson, Cody Kent Rennie; nephews, Jimmy Russell, John Brandt, David Rowell, Bobby Russell and their families along with numerous extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 6, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home with a private burial of ashes at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
