Dolores was born to Ben and Agnes Schurman (in their home) in Smithville, Texas on April 22, 1933. She graduated 2 ^nd in her class at Paige High School, was a cheerleader, and also played basketball.  Following high school, Dolores attended business school in Austin, Texas.  Dolores met her husband, Bobby Mayfield, while working in the Texas Land Office in Austin, Texas.  They married on December 12, 1953 and celebrated sixty-seven years together before his death in 2021.  They moved to Alvin, Texas, where she lived the rest of her life and was a member of South Park Baptist Church for 55 years.  Her passion was her family, and she was also dedicated to the Alvin Girls Softball Association (AGSA) for many years.

Dolores is survived by her son Gary Mayfield, and his wife Cathy Mayfield, her son James Mayfield, and his wife Kathy Mayfield, her daughter Kathleen Mayfield and her husband David Porter; her grandchildren, David Mayfield and his wife Abigail Mayfield, Bethany Walker and her husband Tim Walker, Sarah Cochran and her husband Kevin Cochran, Adrienne Robinson and her husband Anthony Robinson, Gabriel Mayfield and Gabrielle Garcia; and her great grandchildren, Jude and Josie Mayfield, Emma and Caleb Walker, Oliver and Oakes Cochran, and Mateo Mayfield.

Services will be held this Saturday, September 24 ^th , at South Park Baptist Church in Alvin, Texas, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., Celebration of Life services at 11:00 a.m., followed by a brief graveside service at Confederate Cemetery.
