Obituary

Diana Marisa Bacon, known to all who loved her as Marisa, passed away at her home in Friendswood, Texas, on October 1, 2026, at the age of 55.

Born in Houston, Texas, on May 25, 1971, Marisa lived a life defined by love, compassion, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to family and service. A graduate of Santa Fe High School's Class of 1989, she pursued her calling in nursing by earning both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from The University of Texas at Austin.

While nursing was her profession, caring for others was simply who Marisa was. She spent much of her career as a postpartum nurse, helping mothers and newborns begin their journeys together. Later, she became a lactation consultant for Denver Health and Hospital Authority, where she continued to support families during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Nursing was never just a job to her. She deeply loved her patients and took pride in providing exceptional care.

Marisa was also passionate about developing the next generation of nurses. As an academic coach in a college nursing program, she invested her time and energy in helping students build the knowledge, skills, and professional commitment necessary to excel in the nursing profession. She believed great nurses change lives, and she wanted to help shape those who would carry that responsibility forward.

Above all else, Marisa was a devoted wife and mother. She shared an exceptionally close bond with her son, Cameron, and her stepson, Alex James "A.J." Bacon. She took immense pride in the remarkable young men they became and treasured every moment spent with them.

Marisa and Cameron shared a playful spirit and an endless tradition of pranks, laughter, and inside jokes. Together they created countless memories that will continue to bring smiles to those who knew them.

Her marriage to her husband, Bo, was built on love, friendship, trust, and companionship. They were inseparable partners, best friends, and soulmates throughout their fifteen years together. Whether facing life's challenges or enjoying its simplest moments, they did so side by side.

Those who knew Marisa will remember her as genuine, intelligent, warm, affectionate, honest, and fiercely loyal. She was spirited, spunky, and sometimes delightfully sassy. One friend described her as "an unstoppable force," a description that perfectly captured her determination, energy, and strength. She possessed a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, finding reasons to laugh even in ordinary moments. She had a unique gift for lifting the spirits of those around her and making life more joyful simply through her presence.

Marisa was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Cortinas.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 15 years, Bo Bacon; her son, Cameron Faulk; her stepson, Alex James "A.J." Bacon; her mother, Mary Cortinas; her brother, Orlando Cortinas and wife Andrea; her nephews, Noah and Nicholas Cortinas; her niece, Alexandria Cortinas; and numerous extended family members and cherished friends.

Marisa's legacy lives on in the countless patients she comforted, the nurses she mentored, the friends she uplifted, and most importantly, the family she loved so deeply. Those who knew her will continue to tell stories that make them laugh, smile, and remember the joy she brought into their lives. Her love remains woven into the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her influence will be felt for generations through the lives she touched.

In accordance with her wishes, Marisa was cremated. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
