David Carl Mink, age 72 of Alvin, Texas passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Webster, Texas surrounded by family. David was born May 28, 1949, in Angleton, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Alvin. David is preceded in death by his parents Grady and Retta Mink.

David was a long-time public servant starting his career in law enforcement with Alvin Police Department in September of 1974. David would move to Brazoria County Sheriff's Office in June of 1979 as a patrol officer and honorably retired on September 16, 2013. David received multiple letters of commendation during his long career in law enforcement and community service. After retirement from the Sheriff's Office, he worked for several years as a fleet safety supervisor with K-3 BMI. David was also an active member of the Brazoria County Fair Association, the Brazoria County Association for Children with Handicaps (BACH) and the Brazoria County Peace Officers Association, to name a few. David has a servant's heart and would give everything he had to help anyone in need through acts of service or whatever he could provide. He would often remind his children of this strong virtue held by saying, "If you're put in a position to help someone…do it! You may be the only person that can." David was well respected by both his peers and community alike.

When he wasn't protecting and serving the community, you could more than likely catch him at one of his favorite diners, cutting it up with his longtime buddies and spending time with family. In his younger years, David enjoyed fighting bulls as a rodeo clown, calf roping and competing in cutting horse competitions. He continued that passion for rodeo and that lifestyle through teaching his family to love and appreciate it as well. David loved going on trail rides with his wife, Diane, where they made memories to last a lifetime. An avid lover of all things outdoors, you could all but guarantee, if he wasn't hunting, he was at his barn tending to horses or dreaming of that next opportunity to bag that trophy buck. For his downtime, you couldn't paint a more picture-perfect setting than him sitting in his favorite chair, a beloved pet in his lap, a bowl full of whoppers and a classic western on the TV. David wasn't one to often be seen in a church or discussing a bible scripture, but he showed God's great love to all through the way he lived and loved others.

David s survived by his wife, Diane Mink of 29 years; daughters Kelly Magness and Miranda McDonald; son Justin Mink and wife Gennifer; brother Grady "Skipper" Mink Jr and wife Lynda; grandchildren Dylan, Kalli, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Konnor, Karson, Easton, Rylan and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank HCA Clear Lake Region Hospital, Fresenius Dialysis, Signature Home Health and Harbor Hospice staff for all their compassionate care.

A Memorial Service will be held at The Springs Sycamore Hall 1950 County Road 220, Angleton, Texas on Friday, October 29, 2021; food will be served at 4pm and service will start at 5pm.
